Our appreciation to the unwavering commitment of our staff

As we write this letter to you, we are continuing to manage the coronavirus pandemic across our communities. Throughout this unprecedented time, we have been inspired by the character, courage and compassion of our staff, as well as their ability to innovate in a time of crisis. Their ideas have helped us improve our operations, communicate more effectively, but most of all, meet the urgent needs of our patients and the communities we serve.

As you will see in this report, 2019 was another year of growth and accomplishment in quality and patient safety. The programs that you will read about focus on safely transitioning and caring for patients at home, establishing alternative care sites for much-needed services, partnering with community-based organizations to link patients to the critical resources they need, providing care and treatment wherever and whenever it is needed, and advancing technology to improve communication across health care settings and clinicians, and between patients and their providers. These programs and the many population health and patient safety initiatives in which we are engaged will continue as we move forward.

We are keenly aware that all we have accomplished is not possible without the dedication and resilience of our staff. We are inspired by them and you should be, too. Our thanks to all of the clinical and non-clinical staff at Northwell Health for all that they do.
