  • Lenox Hill Hospital opens the Lenox Hill HealthPlex, anchored by Manhattan’s first freestanding Emergency Center. Four years after the closure of St. Vincent’s Hospital, this new facility restores 24/7 care to the West Village.
  • North Shore-LIJ announces a partnership with Access Clinical Partners to launch a new network of 50 urgent care centers across the New York metropolitan area over the next four years. The first two GoHealth Urgent Care centers open in Forest Hills and Massapequa.
  • The North Shore-LIJ Health System is selected by the Cleveland Clinic Heart & Vascular Institute to serve as its exclusive alliance member in the New York metropolitan area. This unique alliance is aimed at providing cardiac patients in the New York metropolitan area with new and enhanced treatment options, and greater access to clinical trials and technologies in cardiology and cardiac surgery. As part of the collaboration, North Shore-LIJ is now a member of Cleveland Clinic’s Cardiovascular Specialty Network.
  • North Shore-LIJ announces an affiliation agreement with Boca Raton Regional Hospital aimed at creating mutually beneficial opportunities in patient care, clinical program development, and research and education in the health sciences. The agreement is the first of its kind between an independent healthcare provider in New York and one in South Florida.
  • CareConnect joins six of New York’s top healthcare providers to expand its customer-service model of health insurance to all five boroughs of New York City and Westchester County, in addition to its original core service area of Nassau and Suffolk counties, Queens and Staten Island.
  • The $84 million, 93,000-square-foot expansion of the North Shore-LIJ Cancer Institute's headquarters at the Center for Advanced Medicine is completed. The new space brings together all cancer services offered by North Shore University Hospital and LIJ Medical Center under one roof.
  • North Shore-LIJ CareConnect Insurance Company, Inc. adds MinuteClinic to its network, giving its members access to the largest and fastest-growing retail clinic company in the United States. CareConnect members can use their insurance for most services at MinuteClinic locations — more than 900 clinics inside select CVS/pharmacy stores in 29 states and the District of Columbia.
  • North Shore-LIJ creates HealthForce, a new business unit offering medical coding services to other healthcare organizations across the country. HealthForce services are designed to ensure that healthcare providers have accurate coding and are fully prepared for the transition to the new ICD-10 system.
  • Lenox Hill Hospital and Chelsea Piers establish a three-year marketing partnership. As part of the new agreement, Lenox Hill becomes the official hospital and health and wellness partner of the 28-acre sports village built on three historic Hudson River piers. The partnership enables the Lenox Hill HealthPlex in Greenwich Village to promote its brand utilizing various venues and means of communication.

  • North Shore-LIJ acquires four internal medicine practices — Nassau Queens Pulmonary, New Hyde Park; South Shore Internal Medicine, Lynbrook; Western Suffolk Gastroenterology, Bay Shore; and Northern Pulmonary, Bayside — to expand patients’ access to internal medicine care.

  • North Shore-LIJ executes a 30-year lease with Waterstone Development Group for 600 Community Drive in Manhasset, NY, where the health system occupies 55,000 square feet of administrative office space. In a unique arrangement, the entire 252,000-square-foot building, which is adjacent to North Shore University Hospital, will be gifted to North Shore-LIJ at the conclusion of the lease.
